Abstract
In the present era of fast-paced lifestyles, consumers exhibit higher expectations and requirements than before. This is particularly accurate when it pertains to their meals. With the advent of social media, individuals have assumed the role of authorities in determining what is considered commendable and what is not. Customers are increasingly discerning regarding the venues they frequent and are highly attuned to their experience at these businesses. Their preference is for prompt service and streamlined ordering without any delays. Incorporating digital technologies into the meal ordering and payment system has become both a popular trend and a necessary measure in response to the impact of COVID-19. The conventional method of selling, which relied on physical interaction, became untenable in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mobile applications have significantly transformed the restaurant industry by enabling businesses to access untapped markets and clients, enhance internal operations, and cater to the evolving demands of contemporary customers. Contactless food ordering and payment has transformed the restaurant experience, allowing customers to order and pay online. Online platforms allow users to browse menus, customize orders, and pay from home. The chapter examines the novel meal ordering and contactless payment system. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning algorithms have streamlined and accelerated company operations. This chapter critically investigates decreasing human interaction, online payment, and hygienically clean uncrowded environments.
