About the Authors

Lyn Brodie graduated from the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) in 1985 with a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and she later gained her Masters of Engineering in 2003. After working for several years in CSIRO (National Measurement Laboratory, Sydney), biomedical research at Westmead Hospital, and designing equipment for the blind and visually impaired at various companies, Brodie returned to take up a lecturing position at USQ. She has won several teaching awards including the 2002 Australasian Association of Engineering Educators (AAEE) Engineering Educator Award and the 2003 USQ Award for Excellence in Design and Delivery of Teaching Materials (Team Leader). This award recognized her work on the design and delivery of the Problem Based Learning course delivered to all first-year engineering and surveying students studying in either internal or distance education modes. Brodie’s current career research interests include Engineering Education and Problem Based Learning.
