Ann Anderson is an associate professor in the Department of Curriculum Studies at the University of British Columbia. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in early mathematics learning, and mathematics education pre-K through grade 7. Prior to joining the department, she taught in the public education system. She is currently completing a research project with the co-authors in which they are examining how parents from different cultural groups mediate print literacy and mathematics with their three- and four-year-old children.

Jim Anderson is an associate professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education at the University of British Columbia. Prior to joining the department, he worked for 15 years in the public education system as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, school principal, language arts consultant, and assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction. He graduate and undergraduate courses in early literacy, family literacy, and reading-language arts. He is currently completing a research project with the co-authors in which they are examining how parents from different cultural groups mediate print literacy and mathematics with their three and four year old children.
