Chapter 14: Early Childhood: The Proper Path for the Future

Good afternoon and welcome to this panel on early childhood education. Let me first introduce the panel and then tell you what we hope to accomplish.

I am joined by Libby Doggett, who is the executive director of Pre-K Now and was previously at the National Head Start Association, where she worked on the Head’s Up reading program. She has done much work on early childcare, particularly looking at issues with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Libby, like almost everyone on the panel, has a Ph.D. When I asked Libby what her most important credential was, she said, not surprisingly, “I’m a teacher.”
