The vision we have for Ohio’s educational system is higher achievement for all students, no matter where they live or what their backgrounds might be. Through an educational system that is based on clear, challenging standards with aligned instruction and assessment, we can level the playing field for all students. This means clear and challenging standards for what our children should know and be able to do from preschool through high school and into postsecondary education.
To accomplish this vision, we must have effective teachers in our classrooms. We know that the quality of the teacher in the classroom is the single most important influence on whether our students learn and succeed in school. That’s why our vision for Ohio’s teachers is that the state, school districts, colleges and universities, and our local communities do everything possible to give educators the support and resources they need to provide the best instruction for every student.
