About the Contributors

Michael W. Apple is John Bascom Professor of Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Policy Studies at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Among his recent books are Educating the “Right” Way: Markets, Standards, God, and Inequality, and The State and the Politics of Knowledge.

Phillip Brown is a Research Professor in the School of Social Sciences, Cardiff University. He previously worked at the University of Cambridge and the University of Kent at Canterbury. His research interests include education, skills and globalisation; knowledge, economy and society; graduate employability and positional competition; and the future of education and work. He has written and edited thirteen books, the latest being Capitalism and Social Progress (with H. Lauder); High Skills: Globalization, Competitiveness and Skill Formation (with A. Green and H. Lauder) and The MisManagement of Talent (with A. Hesketh).
