Leadership of contemporary K–12 schools has become too complex for a single person to accomplish alone (Leithwood & Louis, 2012; Mangin & Stoelinga, 2010). Rather, it requires relationships and interdependence among individuals within a school and its local community who work together to improve educator practice and enhance student learning (Green, 2010; The Wallace Foundation, 2012). Literature about shared leadership and organizational learning in schools places significant emphasis on contributions by teachers and others (Angelle & Schmid, 2007; Collinson & Cook, 2007) who share with the principal “responsibility and mutual accountability toward a common goal or goals” (Arnold, 2004, p. 5).
