Chapter 10: Emerging Online Practices

Faith and hope in human affairs comes from the fact that new people are continually coming into the world, each of them unique, each capable of new initiatives that may interrupt or divert chains of events set in motion by previous action. Action is the miracle working faculty of wo(man) and in human affairs it is actually quite reasonable to expect the unexpected, that new beginnings cannot be ruled out even when society seems locked in stagnation or set in an inexorable course. This chapter outlines an innovative poststructural philosophicalfeminist position which informs the conceptual development of an endo-aesthetic approach to online teaching and learning within the context of postgraduate initial teacher training for the lifelong learning sector. This model critically examines and resists the limitations of an instrumental approach and argues for a teaching and learning model in which contemporary poststructural theory radically informs emerging online practice.
