The United Nations has declared the years 2001 to 2010 the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World as a reply to the persistence and proliferation of violence and conflict in various parts of the world (United Nations, 2000). The UN declaration highlights the importance of educating for a culture of peace. The declaration encourages children and teenagers to have a fresh outlook on the world and on their role as agents of revival. Violence in comminutes should not be accepted and schools can be strong vectors of social transformation (Davis, 2004). The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Sinatra Plan of Action says that:
