“What careers are suited for me? What careers are related to my interest in math, science, writing, or helping people?” Career counselors frequently hear requests for career information. These requests may be explicit, such as, “what is an actuary”, and some of these requests may be embedded within a client’s process of career exploration, “What careers are related to my interest in leading groups of people and organizing events?” Some of the earliest theories of career development focused upon assisting clients as they learn information—information about the self and information about the world of work. This chapter will highlight some of the tools that are related to career information, including their link to career counseling theory and models.
