Chapter 14: Improving Selfconcept Through Experiential Learning and Individualized Instruction

This chapter will explore the effectiveness of Experiential Learning, portions of which are known as Service Learning, and Internship in K-12 schools. The terms Experiential Learning and Service Learning will be used interchangeably throughout the chapter. This model will be detailed and explained within the pragmatic application in the school. It utilizes the development of Experiential Learning projects using Self-Concept Enhancement through Individualized Instruction. The model promotes academic achievement and career aptitude and is based on increasing the self-esteem and self-concept of participating students, applying the research-based and effective instructional model known as differentiated instruction. For the purposes of this article, the term differentiated instruction will also be referred to as individualized instruction.
