We have been working together for over 20 years on the development and dissemination of management research methods. During this time, we have maintained a keen interest in translating ideas and methodologies from the social sciences into the management domain; we have also sought to understand the unique challenges of management research such as the political and ethical issues of working with large and powerful organizations.1 We have looked for novel ways of introducing research ideas and methodologies to doctoral students. In this context, film and video can be very useful in bringing alive the issues that researchers need to tackle whether at the postgraduate stage or later in their academic careers.
