Upon exiting the highway, my car’s “gaslight began to ding and flash. I became keenly aware of the adverse surroundings. Boarded-up buildings with caged windows lined both sides of the street. Landmarks had been tagged by gang-like graffiti. There was an absence of newness and an abundance of dilapidated cars, homes, buildings, and businesses. I thought, “Where would I find fuel and what could survive these conditions?” I continued to drive in search of gas, as well as my final destination, noticing the barbed wire fences and countless companies that had gone out of business. On my left were street vendors selling grilled food and on my right were empty lots filled with people wandering the town. Lo and behold I came across a gas station, but the credit card reader was broken and I was not carrying any cash. I moved onward, driving for several miles and getting closer to my meeting location, when at last I discovered a fully functioning gas station. I filled up and proceeded to my appointment. Suddenly, I came upon the bright and glowing arches of a McDonald’s Restaurant, clearly out of the blue; I had reached my final destination.
