Chapter 16: Does The Devil Laugh When Team Teachers Make Plans?

The administrators of a new language program at a private university in western Japan were tasked with bringing great change to the way language is taught, and this change was to take place very quickly. Gone would be the lecture-style, grammar-translation classes with 60+ students. In their place a group of experienced native-English teachers was to establish a culture of interactive, communicative language learning, with a curriculum tailor-made to the students. These students were not language majors or even studying in the humanities, and were perhaps unsurprisingly not known for being motivated toward or skilled at using English. Success would require every tool the teachers and administrators had at their disposal. To make sure they were truly doing everything they could, they added one more: team teaching.
