For children in the United States, brain injury has been cited as one of the most frequent causes of death and disability (Center for Neuroskills, 2010 ). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2010 ) indicate that infants (aged 0 – 4 years), adolescents (aged 15 – 19 years), and adults over the age of 65 are most likely to suffer a TBI. In the United States, in each year between 2002 and 2006, an average of approximately 380,000 school aged children visited the emergency room and over 35,000 were hospitalized as a result of TBI (US Department of Health and Human Services, 2010 ).
