Dear Boas,
As I recall, we were asked to engage in a “dialogue” in the sense of engaging in a conversation with people’s views—rather than agreeing or disagreeing—rather than critiquing or debating the truth value of their claims. I should say that the emphasis on “dialogue” resonates very strongly for me, not least because it is central to my theorizing of leadership and transformative change work. In addition, since I do not assume that there needs to be a sharp distinction between the practice I write about and my own practice, I prefer to work in ways that could be described as “dialogical.”
