Suniti Sharma is an assistant professor in the Department of Teacher Education at Saint Joseph’s University, Philadelphia. She graduated from Purdue University in curriculum studies. She teaches instructional strategies for English language arts, social studies through the creative arts, and assessment and evaluation at the undergraduate and graduate level. Her research interests include identity, curriculum, and prison education, and preparing teachers for emergent bilingual students. A third area of research, international field experiences and study abroad for preservice teachers, is in collaboration with Dr. JoAnn Phillion at Purdue University. She has authored Girls Behind Bars: Reclaiming Education in Transformative Spaces. Her research has been published in Teachers College Record, Issues in Teacher Education, Journal of Curriculum Theorizing and Race Ethnicity and Education. She has also coauthored chapters in Curriculum Studies Handbook: The Next Moment, Handbook of Public Pedagogy and authored a chapter in Educating about Social Issues in the 20th and 21st Centuries: Critical Theorists and Critical Theories, Volume 4.
