It will be useful to set up an historical case context within which this book can develop. The one that we have chosen is an important one for the new globalising world that we are facing, China. During the last few years bank pathologies have manifested themselves into a global recession, and China has begun to flex its embryonic superpower muscles. There are few countries in the world that are not experiencing the impact of its low cost production (originally beginning with low cost products in the plastics and rag industries) and then developing its higher technology profile.

Our interest lies in exploring the changes in China and the impact of these on the fitness of its organizations. In doing this a number of elements will be explored. These are:
