The fast pace of change to a global economy and a technologically interlinked world demands responsive leadership for P–12 schools everywhere. Educators and administrators find themselves challenged to evaluate these changes in contemporary world systems and to facilitate the preparation of students who are able to exist and thrive in situations demanding intercultural understanding and a global mind-set. Although these challenges exist for school leaders, educators, and students in national school systems everywhere, they are particularly acute for the growing number of educators and students in international schools worldwide.

In this study we examined two distinct and incremental stages in the transformational process from monocultural to intercultural educator:
