Management consulting continues to be a booming global business, despite the industry-wide crisis from 2008 to 2010 that dampened the growth rates experienced the years before. Indeed, it seems that there are prospects for recovery for the consulting arena, as optimism and growth are predicted once again (Management Consultancy Association, n.d.). Today the management consulting industry is a large and worldwide business, with estimated total revenues of more than $250 billion (in 2010) and a promising future as more growth is expected. Among the key drivers for this development are (1) an increased complexity in business, (2) new emergent markets, (3) emphasis on outsourcing and off-shoring, (4) changes driven by technology and deregulation, and (5) major reforms in the public sector.
