5: Phillip

Phillip is a boy who seems to be hitting a growth spurt as his body tries to catch up to his legs. While he is tall, his face has the appearance of a younger boy, with a gap-filled grin and freckles across his face. Phillip usually wears jeans, tennis shoes, and often a Weston football hooded sweatshirt for a jacket.

From the beginning of the study, Phillip was the most eager to participate. On the survey, he circled “yes” when asked if he'd like to participate and returned his consent form in a prompt manner. On the same survey, Phillip circled multiple out-of-school activities such as youth group, Sunday school, and a job working in a restaurant. He enjoyed when I sat next to him in class and expressed disappointment when I was not at the school.
