The purpose of this chapter is to summarize the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on telework research and practice. After briefly discussing the history of research and science of telework before the pandemic, we contrast pandemic telework with pre-pandemic telework. This discussion is followed by reflections on changes in telework practice, including the prevalence of telework, attitudes about it, as well as the recruitment, retention, and management of teleworkers. Then, we summarize research conducted and published between 2020 and 2022 on samples of employees working from home during the pandemic. Finally, we conclude with future directions for both research and practice.
