First page of Mercer University

Mercer University was founded in 1833. The second-largest Baptist-affiliated institution in the world, it is the only independent university of its size in the country that combines programs in liberal arts, business, engineering, education, medicine, pharmacy, theology, and law. Mercer’s main campus is located in Macon, a city of 120,000 residents that serves as the hub of Central Georgia. With five off-campus centers, Mercer’s educational programs reach virtually every corner of the state.

In 1995, teacher education programs previously offered through Mercer’ s College of Liberal Arts and academic programs once offered through its University College were consolidated to form the School of Education. Currently 1,700 students strong, the School of Education is one of the largest schools at Mercer.
