The creative industry in Africa presents an innovative path for economic development, particularly through the tourism sector, which has created diverse employment opportunities. A notable emerging opportunity within this industry is creative work, traditionally recognised in music, fashion, art, and filmmaking. There is a growing need to explore content creation as a new form of creative work with the potential to significantly impact the continent’s economic prospects. Through desk research, we argue that content creation, as a form of creative work, benefits individual creators, conflict-affected regions, and national governments. We propose that content creation can play a crucial role in rebranding Africa’s image and promoting tourist areas through destination vlogging, which could help attract the needed attention to the continent’s touristic resources. The chapter emphasis that while individual creativity and technology are vital for advancing the creative industry in Africa, government intervention is essential to promote content creation that enhances the global positioning of African countries and increases the appeal of tourist destinations. Content creation can help change prevailing narratives in crisis-affected areas by highlighting their touristic resources. This approach presents a mutually beneficial scenario for the youth, the government, and the developmental objectives of African nations.
