Abstract
The world is undergoing significant transformations due to the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). At the heart of this revolution is artificial intelligence (AI), which is rapidly becoming an integral component in business operations, decision-making, and knowledge management (KM). This chapter aims to delve into how AI is revolutionizing business knowledge management systems (KMS) by enhancing data processing, decision-making capabilities, and overall organizational competitiveness. Thise chapter will explore the emerging and distinctive features of AI’s role in improving and advancing KMS within corporate organizations. It will address the potential benefits and challenges of integrating AI into KMS, focusing on how businesses can leverage this technology to make informed decisions, secure competitive advantages, and navigate the evolving landscape of digital commerce. This research is grounded in a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) approach. By selecting 21 key research papers from databases like Scopus, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect, the chapter examines the role of AI in KM over the past decade (2014–2024). The focus areas include AI applications in KMS, the implications of these technologies on business processes, and ethical considerations such as data privacy and security. The findings emphasize AI’s transformative role in knowledge management by enhancing information processing and enabling real-time decision-making. Moreover they highlight AI’s potential to improve organizational agility, adaptability, and competitiveness through data-driven insights, while also underscoring the importance of data privacy and ethical considerations.
