Despite the myriad challenges associated with growing up in today’s tumultuous times, the author proposes an optimistic vision of the future for today’s gifted youth who may very well be tomorrow’s leaders. She considers the ways that counselors and other mental health professionals can play an integral role in helping high-ability students develop the requisite coping skills and internal resources to become resilient and well-adjusted high-ability adults who will use their talents and abilities in a responsible, ethical, and a socially just manner.
