First page of Conclusion

The strengthening of equity-oriented positive youth development (PYD) feels both necessary and urgent for the field to remain relevant to the lives of young people. As two scholars who have dedicated our careers to young people and youth work, the ongoing transformation of PYD to intentionally address issues of equity is powerful for us professionally. It also strikes a personal chord. As kids and teens of color, we sought and would have benefited from equity-oriented PYD in our schools and youth programs. As youth workers and scholars, we sought and developed resources that center the identities and lived experiences of racially minoritized youth. Now as parents, we hope for equity-oriented PYD to be so pervasive in formal and informal learning institutions so that it is easily available to our bicultural children.
