Abstract
The research discusses the reflective transformation that digital technologies bring to the tourism and hospitality industry. This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how changes brought by digital tourism may contribute to sustainable growth, aligning with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), predominantly SDGs 8, 9, 12, and 16. The introduction of this study sets a tenacious grip by outlining the objectives and structure of the chapter based on key themes of protecting heritage tourism and also laying hands on the regenerative aspect of the dame based on ever-evolving technological shifts. Thereafter, an overview of the digital transformation in the tourism sector highlights its significance and the necessity of integrating legal and economic perspectives. A better understanding of key drivers and current trends of the evolving landscape paves a better medium to appreciate the legal and economic considerations associated with digital tourism.
By checking the role of digital platforms, smart tourism infrastructure and data-operated decision making, the chapter highlights economic benefits such as market access, better efficiency and inclusive development. It also underlines the importance of clear legal guidelines to ensure consumer protection, data privacy and fair market practices. The chapter proposes an overall approach – to add economic incentives with legal accountability – to ensure that digital tourism stability makes meaningful contribution to the goals. This provides actionable insights for policy makers, legal experts and industry leaders who demand responsible tourism development to align digital innovation.
