Emotionally intelligent leadership (EIL) promotes an intentional focus on self, others, and context. The core of the model are the three facets consciousness of self, consciousness of others, and consciousness of context. Nineteen learnable capacities that equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, perspectives, and attitudes to achieve desired outcomes are included in this accessible model. This theory can deepen one’s connection and understanding of themselves, others, and the larger context in which they live and lead. This chapter explores the history and context around the EIL theory, defines the theory, and concludes with strengths and opportunities of the theory.
