Abstract
This chapter examines the integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) into innovation management, highlighting its potential to enhance efficiency, creativity, productivity, and organizational sustainability while addressing the ethical challenges it presents. GenAI’s transformative capabilities can significantly augment and accelerate innovation, yet concerns about data privacy, algorithmic bias, intellectual property, and the potential displacement of human creativity persist. A systematic literature review reveals policies and practices adopted by companies to mitigate these challenges, emphasizing the importance of transparency, accountability, and human oversight. Addressing these ethical dilemmas allows organizations to align innovation with human values and societal well-being, particularly within the framework of Society 5.0. Practical implications include the need for organizations to understand these ethical considerations to navigate the complexities of GenAI adoption responsibly. Policymakers can leverage these insights to craft effective regulatory frameworks supporting the Society 5.0 vision. This study underscores the importance of ethical governance and data transparency in integrating GenAI into innovation processes, offering valuable insights for ensuring sustainable and human-centered innovation.
