Ethnic Studies serves as a form of resistance, challenging the traditional structures of higher education. This chapter examines how Ethnic Studies Praxis within student affinity centers goes beyond diversity retention strategies, positioning these centers as spaces of resistance and liberatory education that counteract oppression. Through the author’s personal kuwento (story) as both a former student and student affairs professional, the chapter highlights the responsibility of center practitioners to integrate Ethnic Studies Praxis to foster healing and liberation. Drawing on examples from an Undocumented Student Center and an Asian American Resource Center, the author illustrates how these spaces can drive transformational change. The chapter also addresses the tensions that arise when such praxis conflicts with the institution’s values, offering insight into navigating these challenges while staying committed to liberation.
