Abstract
As the world faces some of its darkest times, the voice of youth emerges as a beacon of hope, signaling the possibility of a brighter tomorrow. Yet, as young people rise to meet these challenges, a critical question remains: What tools are we giving them to create a better future? Are we handing them the keys to a culture of war or those of a culture of peace? Leadership, as it stands today, is rooted in a culture of war. It is time to uproot outdated traditions and plant the seeds of new ones, allowing a culture of peace to flourish. This chapter draws on a qualitative study on leadership identity development and the culture of peace. It begins by defining both the culture of peace and leadership identity development, followed by an exploration of the importance of bridging the gap between these two concepts. The chapter concludes with the culture of peace as a global leadership development model.
