Abstract
This study investigates the needs and expectations of employees in a hybrid work environment, focusing specifically on Millennials and Generation Z, who constitute a significant portion of the current and future workforce. The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically transformed work dynamics, leading to the rise of hybrid arrangements that blend remote and in-office work. Utilizing a comprehensive literature review, this research integrates existing studies on emerging trends in hybrid workplaces, with a particular emphasis on the unique requirements of these younger generations. Current theories of employee motivation in traditional settings are insufficient for addressing the specific needs and expectations of a multigenerational workforce in hybrid environments. This paper identifies critical research gaps and outlines future research directions relevant to the characteristics of employees operating within these frameworks. It underscores the necessity for further investigation into effective management strategies for employees in hybrid settings, enabling organizations to better understand and support their diverse workforce. The findings will assist future researchers, human resource practitioners, and organizational leaders in navigating the complexities of hybrid work, providing valuable insights into employee engagement and productivity. This research not only enhances the understanding of hybrid work practices but also contributes to the broader field of human resource management by addressing the implications of emerging work arrangements. By exploring these dynamics, the study aims to foster a more nuanced understanding of how organizations can thrive in the evolving landscape of work, ultimately benefiting both employees and employers in the long term.
