Chapter 6 addresses the intersection of health and human service delivery with social equity and language justice for Spanish-speaking communities. It examines definitions of social equity within public health frameworks and critiques existing practices through the lens of the National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services Standards. Drawing from lived experience and applied practice, the authors assess the limitations of current systems in addressing the needs of limited English proficient populations. The chapter presents strategies for culturally and linguistically responsive care and policy, urging reforms that expand access, eliminate disparities, and promote systemic accountability. This chapter features Inequity in Action box, Reflection from the Frontlines, and Critical Thinking boxes.
