Abstract
The aim of this publication is to understand the current situation in terms of how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is used in the public sector. ΑΙ has emerged as a transformative force in management and marketing over the past year. Its rapid adoption across both public and private sectors has sparked interest in its potential applications in the public sector. While the integration of AI in the Greek public sector is still in its early stages, it presents an exciting case for exploration. Several government agencies in Greece have initiated AI experiments to enhance efficiency, improve decision-making processes and deliver superior services to citizens, hinting at a future where AI plays a central role in public governance. Overall, the publication concludes on the fact that there are many future research pathways for the use of AI in the public sector, while in many cases, the limited research and use of AI in the public sector – in Greece but also elsewhere – create several challenges and opportunities for the academia and researchers.
