Rapid technological advancements and a notable decrease in the digital divide have transformed the entrepreneurial environment, especially in developing countries like India. The landscape of IT startups in India has witnessed remarkable expansion, propelled by an array of macro-environmental factors and proactive governmental initiatives. The ‘Startup India; Standup India’ campaign, launched in 2016, has played a crucial role in nurturing creative startups and entrepreneurial spirit through three key pillars: simplification and handholding, funding and incentives, and Industry–Academia Partnership and Incubation. Thus, enhancing sustainable economic development drives entrepreneurial growth (Dhiman & Arora, 2024a) and poverty alleviation through job creation (Dhiman & Arora, 2024b; Venkateswaran, 2024). This transformation has paved the way for the birth and proliferation of IT startups in geographically remote and underdeveloped regions (Gunasekaran & Harmantzis, 2007). Among these, tourist hotspots like Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh have become some extraordinary epicentres for technology-driven ventures.
