First page of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics [Key Takeaways]

All around the world, development in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and affiliated disciplines has undeniably emerged as a predominant marker of growth and progress of a nation (Sulai & Sulai, 2020). A compilation of contemporary social justice and social equity concerns in the Islamic Republic of Iran (henceforth identified as Iran) would be incomplete without a discussion of fairness, equity, empowerment, and other attributes in direct relationship to STEM-related advancements and progressions (Leggon & Gaines, 2017). This section includes three chapters that examine the intersecting dimensions of existing realities (i.e., challenges and opportunities) in the adoption, integration, and use of STEM in Iran’s library and information science (LIS) and the weaving of social justice attributes (actualities and potentialities) in current and future directions of growth and progress (Mehra, 2022).
