The travel industry in India is experiencing a significant digital transformation, which has made it increasingly susceptible to cyber threats. As businesses rely more on online platforms for bookings and transactions, they face critical cybersecurity challenges, including data breaches, phishing attacks, and ransomware incidents. These threats not only compromise sensitive customer information but also undermine consumer trust and disrupt operations. The research aims to explore the primary cybersecurity threats faced by the travel sector in India, the impact on consumer trust and business in cybersecurity after the COVID-19 pandemic, the best practices that can be implemented to enhance cybersecurity measures in the travel industry and determine the efficacy of the employee training programs in mitigating cybersecurity risks. By identifying the key threats and examining their implications, the research seeks to equip industry stakeholders with the knowledge necessary to implement robust cybersecurity protocols. Primary data were collected from employees in the travel industry through interviews, surveys, and case studies. Secondary data were gathered from literature reviews, industry reports, regulatory documents, tourism websites, and other relevant sources. It was found that organizations that implemented comprehensive employee training programs reported fewer security incidents, demonstrating the critical role of awareness in reducing vulnerabilities. The study will help guide ways to identify and refrain from threats that erode consumer trust. Effective cybersecurity measures will be recommended that comprise multi-factor authentication, regular security audits, and advanced threat detection systems.
