Abstract
This chapter picks up, in the framework of globalization, the highly diversified issue of the rights and responsibilities of students. The discussion copes with a complex interaction of legal, cultural, and ethical dimensions forming part of their educational journey while paying due importance to the foundational role of academic freedom. It underlines the set of responsibilities accompanying civic commitments and contributions to local and international levels. The examination of tensions between local norms and global expectations, including equal access to education, freedom of expression, and ethical obligations, is conducted through case studies from diverse geographical and sociocultural contexts. Emerging challenges, including digital inequalities and pressures from authoritarian governments, are discussed alongside opportunities provided by collaborative platforms and global learning networks. The central argument of the chapter is a call for responsible student citizenship grounded in principles of inclusion, social justice, and respect for cultural diversity.
