Ongoing technological developments have increased the need for higher education institutions (HEIs) to strengthen their academic integrity systems thereby ensuring that students are provided with adequate support and institutional reputations are not compromised. The academic library is critical as a resource management agency and for the teaching of information literacy (IL). Through a review of the literature on academic integrity and an examination of academic integrity programmes globally, the chapter provides a definition of academic integrity and discusses its importance to students, institutions, and society. The chapter further outlines the teaching role of academic librarians and the integration of academic integrity into IL programmes. The chapter also focusses on the Caribbean situation, and presents recommendations for the further integration of academic integrity into library services. This chapter presents academic librarians with a rationale for the purposeful integration of academic integrity into IL programmes and suggestions on how this can be successfully done. This is especially important given the recent developments in generative artificial intelligence, the unauthorised use or misuse of which can lead to academic misconduct.
