11: Momath: Building Community

In this chapter, I introduce the National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) in New York City (U.S.). The chapter is based primarily on interviews with three individuals involved with MoMath. Through these interviews, the reader gets a sense of their dedication to creating, enhancing, and supporting interest in mathematics. In addition to background information, I discuss MoMath exhibits, activities, programming, audience, impact, funding, and challenges, as well as the role that MoMath plays in building and sustaining mathematics community.
