Abstract
Banaran tourism village is a destination managed based on community-based principles. It is located in the buffer area around the Borobudur Super Priority destination in Kulon Progo Regency, Indonesia. The village has great potential to become a competitive destination, but it needs to develop its residents' tourism capacity. Community-based tourism, managed internally, is currently a side business for residents and relies on trial and error, making it challenging to provide the required level of service. Banaran tourism village managers use a community-based strategy linked to local sources, partnerships, live-in, homestay, digitization, service quality, storytelling, and tour guides.
