The World Tourism Organization emphasizes that Indigenous tourism alleviates the global COVID-19 pandemic negative effects, and supporting these destinations translates into contributions to alternative development, as these communities are assumed to adopt sustainable practices, despite being unfamiliarized with the model. Nations are currently in the decade of action for the sustainable development goals (SDGs), but progress is acknowledged to be slow. The objective of this chapter was to examine Indigenous tourism and the SDGs through a systematic literature review by using VOSviewer's bibliographic mapping. 175 articles published between 2015 and 2022, and found in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, were analysed. The results show the studies that analyse the SDGs in Indigenous tourism and the studies whose results relate to the themes of those goals. Community practices contribute to various SDGs in tourism development, but there are opportunities that require continued work to ensure that Indigenous tourism plays a role in other SDGs where it is not officially considered.
