Abstract
This chapter explores how companies are using crowdsourcing as a strategic tool to improve the candidate experience and strengthen their employer brand in a competitive talent market. By involving more people through crowdsourced initiatives, organizations can promote innovation, gain diverse insights, and create a more inclusive hiring process. This approach enhances employer branding by showing a commitment to transparency and collaboration. It also offers candidates more interactive and engaging experiences, replacing passive applications with activities that allow them to demonstrate their skills. Leading companies like Google, IBM, and Unilever use hackathons, coding contests, and open innovation platforms to attract top talent and improve their brand image. These methods help in identifying high-potential candidates while encouraging creativity and participation. Artificial intelligence–driven recruitment platforms further support this by providing personalized communication, instant feedback, and increased engagement. Despite the benefits, crowdsourcing in recruitment brings challenges such as intellectual property issues, data privacy concerns, and ensuring fairness and consistency in evaluation. Ethical issues may also arise, including bias in reviews and unclear compensation structures. To maximize the value of crowdsourcing, companies should integrate it with traditional hiring practices, promote fairness, and use technology responsibly. This chapter presents real-life examples and trends, highlighting how crowdsourcing is shaping the future of employer branding and talent acquisition.
