A free verse poem and self-reflection prose will be used to discuss how library science has informed my perception of the news, interpersonal relationships, and misinformation that continues to grow exponentially because of dependence on technology. Discriminatory practices have been introduced by providing exclusively digital ways of engaging in daily life. It is a dangerous fact that people who are not technologically savvy or lack reliable internet access are denied equal access to participate in society. Equity involves offering multiple options to engage with others. The digital landscape of ubiquitous cell phone and internet use is not always reliable or safe. A healthy balance of technology use should be embraced instead of shunned. Diversity within information literacy encompasses the opportunity to complete everyday tasks without undue stress or financial duress. Advocacy can take the form of access to a variety of options for completion of a task and viable alternatives for those with disabilities.
