This chapter examines the challenges and resilience of women around the world while emphasizing the compounded disparities women face across economic participation, education, health, and political empowerment. We highlight the interconnected nature of gender inequality domains, including poverty, education, reproductive health, violence, and systemic barriers. Global indicators, such as the Gender Development Index and the Sustainable Development Goals, provide a lens for understanding these inequalities. This chapter underscores the transformative impact of education, improved access to resources, and gender-sensitive policies in reducing disparities while emphasizing the importance of intersectional approaches to understanding women’s unique experiences. Despite these challenges, women hold relative advantages in longevity, higher education enrollment, and social support networks. Furthermore, this chapter calls for systemic reforms, cultural shifts, and investment in poorer regions to accelerate global progress toward gender equity.
