Globalization is one of the most prominent phenomena affecting modern societies. Its impacts extend beyond economic and political dimensions to encompass cultural aspects, particularly cultural identity. With the emergence of digital platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and others, university students are increasingly exposed to foreign films that present diverse cultures and values. This cultural openness has led to changes in thinking and behavior among youth, significantly affecting their local cultural identity.

In this context, the importance of studying the relationship between Bahraini youth’s exposure to foreign films and changes in cultural identity becomes evident. Foreign films, along with the concepts of Western culture and globalization they convey, are among the most influential media components on the cultural identity of youth. This is particularly relevant as young people are in a life stage where their opinions are formed, and they test the social and cultural values acquired during their childhood and adolescence. Youth are also among the most active demographic groups in consuming foreign films.

This study is significant in highlighting the profound cultural impact of digital media on Bahraini youth, which is crucial for understanding how to enhance Bahraini cultural identity. This study aims to determine the effect of exposure to foreign films on the cultural values of Bahraini youth, understand the nature of the relationship between foreign entertainment content and cultural transformations among youth, and provide recommendations to address the challenges posed by cultural globalization.
