The gig economy’s precariousness has emerged as a notable area of research in the past few years and remarkable developments occurred in this research domain concerned with the number of published articles and its citations. Even though there is a growth in this research domain, still there are some areas for future expansion. A bibliometric analysis of 255 articles taken out from the Scopus database is used in this study to examine the existing research related to the precarious nature of the gig economy. The analyses of citations, bibliographic coupling, co-occurrence of author keywords and links between articles are done with the help of VOS viewer software. The contribution of prominent authors and key sources, emerging themes and the existing knowledge in this research domain are revealed in this study. The findings are helpful for researchers in exploring new areas related to this research domain and to provide crucial contributions to policymakers.
