Abstract
This essay takes a geographical view of the Callejón de Huaylas (CDH) region to examine the function of participatory planning in the creation of tourist hotspots. In order to tackle the complexity of the CDH region, the authors began by selecting degrees of municipal engagement in planning, units of analysis for the questionnaire and participatory planning methodologies. This descriptive study did not use experimental methods and instead used a cross-sectional approach. An online survey was distributed to 38 agents with direct or indirect involvement in interactive tourist site planning; the survey was validated by a panel of five experts and supplied by the extraordinary event. A direct link between territorial planning strategy and participatory planning methods in the establishment of tourist destinations was ultimately determined to be beneficial to the CDH neighbourhood.
