The Introduction declared that this is not a book about stories, telling stories, or leading with stories. There are many fine books on those topics. This book is more about exploring the fundamentally human propensity to think in stories, and what that means for us pragmatically in how we live our lives. Like every sporting or political commentary, there is a unique voice inside our heads running a very subjectively oriented commentary on what is happening in our lives. We all find ourselves holding several roles; we write the script, assess risks, balance costs and benefits, narrate the story, play the leading role, while also fulfilling duties of publicist, director, and producer. Of all of these, which is the most influential role?
